Details on a Wikipedia page regarding the passenger jet shot down last week has been discovered to have been tampered with by the Russian Government. A Tweetbot by the name of @RuGovEdits tweeted to users about this edit, highlighting the guilty activity they were trying to cover up. The Tweetbot is much like that called @CongressEdits – a Tweetbot that sends tweet alerts whenever a Wikipedia article is edited by a government IP address.
The original article stated the jet was “shot down by terrorists of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic with bulk system missiles, which the terrorists received from Russian Federation” however was changed to “the plane [flight MH17] was shot down by Ukrainian soldiers.”
Regarding this Tweetbot can be trusted, it shows the Russian government really are attempting to cover up their tracks to hide the well known fact that it was Russian weapons that brought the plane down. Without Twitter and automated bots, it is unlikely for this to have ever been discovered.
As many a person may say, don’t believe everything you read on Wikipedia – especially in this case.
